In April 2022, the Department for Education released a sustainability and climate change strategy specifically for education. By 2025, all education settings are expected to appoint a sustainability lead and develop a climate action plan. This plan will guide schools in both implementing and educating about various sustainability initiatives.
Our climate action plan has been created collaboratively and each year group has taken on a different focus for the year ahead. Environmental action is most effective when it’s collaborative, community-focused, and inclusive. Sustainability not just as a set of green initiatives, but a shared journey where pupils, staff, families, and the wider community each have a role. This links perfectly with our ‘Stronger Together’ approach. We have a shared responsibility to make a change, acknowledging everyone’s role in success emphasising that we ‘did this together.’
